Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Mode Chíc ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Mode Chíc mobile application (the "App") published by Mode Chíc Line, Acetyleenstraat 9, Paramaribo, Suriname.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are

Mode Chíc is a retail store in Paramaribo, Suriname. The App lets customers browse our published collections and contact us about specific items. Our contact details are listed at the end of this policy.

2. Information we collect

a) Information you provide

• Customers: You can browse the App without creating an account. We do not ask you for your name, email, address, or phone number inside the App.
• If you contact us via WhatsApp from the App: when you tap "Contact Us about this specific item," your device opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message that includes the name of the collection and a public link to the photo you were viewing. The content of any conversation you then have with us on WhatsApp is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy and our normal business records.
• Store staff ("admins"): Authorised staff sign in with an email address and password to manage the App's content. We store the email address and an encrypted form of the password.

b) Information collected automatically

• Push notification identifiers. To send you alerts when we publish a new collection, we use OneSignal. When you install the App, OneSignal generates an anonymous device identifier and may collect technical information such as your device type, operating system version, language, time zone, and country (derived from IP). OneSignal does not give us your real name, email, or phone number. See OneSignal's privacy policy: https://onesignal.com/privacy_policy.
• Service logs. Our backend providers (Supabase, OneSignal) generate technical logs (timestamps, IP addresses, error data) that they retain for security and reliability.
• No analytics SDKs. The App does not include Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, or similar third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

c) Information we do not collect

• We do not collect your precise location.
• We do not access your contacts, calendar, microphone, or files.
• We access your camera/photo library only for staff who are authorised to upload product photos — never for ordinary customers.

3. How we use information

We use the limited information described above to:

• Show you our published collections and product photos.
• Send push notifications when we publish a new collection (you can disable these in your device settings at any time).
• Allow you to contact us about a specific item via WhatsApp, by phone, or by opening our location in your maps app.
• Let authorised staff manage the App's content.
• Operate, secure, and improve the App.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not build profiles for marketing.

4. Service providers we share data with

We rely on the following third parties to operate the App. Each acts only on our instructions and is bound by their own privacy and security commitments:

These providers may host data outside Suriname (typically the United States or European Union). By using the App you consent to such transfers.

5. Push notifications

When you install the App, your device is automatically subscribed to receive notifications about new collections. You can turn off notifications at any time in your device's Settings → Notifications → Mode Chíc. Turning them off stops new alerts; it does not delete the anonymous push identifier OneSignal has previously assigned to your install.

6. Links to external services

Tapping "Open in Maps," our phone number, or "Contact Us about this specific item" leaves the App and opens Google Maps, your phone dialler, or WhatsApp respectively. Once you leave the App, those services' own privacy policies apply.

7. Data retention

• Push identifiers are retained by OneSignal as long as the App remains installed on your device, or until you uninstall.
• Photos and collection content are kept until we choose to remove or unpublish them.
• Admin accounts are retained until the staff member's access is revoked.
• Server logs are retained for a limited period by our service providers in line with their standard practices.

8. Security

We use access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and row-level security policies in our database so that only authorised staff can modify content. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information described in this policy.

9. Children

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct or delete that information.
• Withdraw consent to push notifications (by disabling them in your device settings).
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Because customers use the App anonymously, the personal information we directly hold about an individual customer is normally limited to the anonymous push identifier assigned by OneSignal. To exercise any of the rights above, contact us using the details in Section 12.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated through the App or our usual channels.
